The Burchfield Penney Langley H. Kenzie Award was created to honor Mrs. Kenzie’s dedication as an artist and to support others like her. It recognizes an outstanding artist from the biennial, juried exhibition, Art in Craft Media, by granting the recipient a solo exhibition in the following year. The award is supported by the Langley H. Kenzie Award Endowment, established by her daughters, Rachel King and Mary Mahley.

Brian Scully (vocals/acoustic guitar), Jon Silva (lead guitar), James Zaner (drums), Sam Bouve (bass) and Ryan Jackson (keys/guitars) rip through shows with frenetic energy, perhaps best described as country music, tinged with Americana heartland vibes, and played with a bar-friendly edge-of-punk rowdiness. Everyone sings along. The patrons are as much a part of the show as the band itself. The result is a live band that manages to make every show — from small clubs to the largest of festivals — feel a little like a reunion of like-minded souls at their favorite local bar.

The river corridor has been designated by National Audubon as a globally significant Important Birding Area. It supports 19 gull species alone, like the graceful Bonaparte’s Gull, which can be seen in numbers ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 in ONE DAY during the winter months. For those who don’t get real stoked about gulls, this region also serves as a migratory path, or flyway, for thousands of songbirds and birds of prey. It’s truly a superhighway in the sky. Still not impressed? Well, if you just don’t give a hoot about birds, try and look at it this way. Birds serve a critical role as an indicator species, meaning that studying their patterns and behaviors has been proven to predict environmental health, impacts of climate change, and ultimately the health and quality of life of human beings. Also, they eat mosquitos. And, some sleep on the wing, and use tools, and can recognize individual humans… I could go on.

I would also agree with you if it wasn’t for the fact that when you disable yourself then we could collectively get stuck paying your medical bills and welfare if you do not have the proper insurance and financial well being. I would say if he has proper medical and disability insurance, let him do whatever he wants. This is the same view I have about drugs, it is none of my business until I have to start paying higher taxes, cause of your choices.
