Beginning in 2009, Currier has collaborated with Boston Valley Terra Cotta to create unique ceramic tiles for interior walls. Her first commission, La Stanza di Linea, is a 14 x 40-foot wall in the Choral Room in the Miller Performing Arts Center at Alfred University. Incorporating three different tiles to create the pattern, the tiles were mounted to the wall utilizing Boston Valley’s unique clip system. Next, BKSK, the architectural firm that designed 688 Broadway, a 14-unit luxury apartment building in New York City’s NOHO neighborhood, chose one of Currier’s Boston Valley Terra Cotta tiles for installation in the entryway.

The exhibition is fittingly presented in the Sylvia L. Rosen Gallery for Fine Art in Craft Media, named for the Burchfield Penney’s patron whose generous support makes the biennial exhibition possible, as well as collection development. Past recipients of the Langley H. Kenzie Award include Bethany Krull (2010), Karen Donnellan (2012), Jesse Walp (2014), and Jozef Bajus (2016), who respectively work with ceramics, glass, wood, and fiber with recycled materials.

First Night Buffalo is presented by the Independent Health Foundation and sponsored by WKBW-TV Channel 7, Independent Health, The Buffalo News, and Lamar.
Each of the 10 loops around Ceres took one and a half days, and Dawn successfully performed all of its planned observations. Every time Dawn flew northward over the sunlit hemisphere, the spacecraft used its cameras and other sensors to collect new data. During some orbits, as it flew southward over the hemisphere opposite the Sun, it turned to point its main antenna at faraway Earth and then radioed its findings to NASA's Deep Space Network. On other orbits, Dawn patiently continued looking down at Ceres. Of course, with the ground there hidden in the deep black of night on a moonless world, there was nothing to see, but by not turning, the spacecraft could conserve precious hydrazine for later in the mission. (Dawn used this strategy in most of the other phases at Ceres as well, starting with the third mapping orbit of the prime mission in 2015.) We will discuss more about hydrazine below.
Not that he’s been at it his whole life or even since that day, more than a generation ago, when he availed himself of the Law of Return (ḥok ha-shvut) to move to Israel.
No diesel oil here. It’s a pulse jet. That means it probably runs on propane and seeing in the photo what appears to be 2 red barbeque grill tanks, I’d say that’s almost surely the case. Pulsejets aren’t likely to exploded, because they’re basically just a hollow tube and have very low compression. They work on principles involving the Kadenacy effect and resonance. However, they can “flame out” but the biggest danger from that would be in starting the engine, which require deliver a burst of high velocity air into the exhaust pipes. That’s likely what the leaf blower is used for. If he’s careful to stand slightly off to the side while starting the engine the only real danger would be if he had a propane leak somewhere in his fuel delivery system.
It’s complicated. Hadar, native-born, sweet inside and out, is partly Sephardi, partly a member of what’s known as the “Eydot ha-Mizraḥ”—“communities [or congregations] of the East.” The Mizraḥi story is both complicated and far from uninteresting. So is the whole story of what’s known in the Jewish tradition, and in the Zionist lexicon, as kibbuts galuyot—the ingathering of the exiles.
At Coast Controls, we manufacturer the worldâs only proportional pneumatic web guiding system (Fig. 1). The machines use the same mediumâcompressed airâfor sensing, controlling, and powering the actuating devices. The complete system consists of the All-Air servo controller, which processes signals from an airflow sensor to extend or retract a pneumatic cylinder on a guide assembly. We have used the same proportional controller on every system we have built since 1992, whether it is a displacement, steering, or shifting unwind/rewind guiding system. It is a time tested, proven design to say the least.
About Anne Currier Anne Currier received her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute, Chicago and her M.F.A. from the University of Washington, Seattle. Ms. Currier has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Virginia A. Groot Foundation.
