Professor emerita of Ceramic Art at Alfred University, the number one ranked ceramic art Master’s program in the country by U.S. News and World Report, Currier was recently named first-place recipient of a 2017 Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant. Her sculptures are represented in numerous private and public collections, which include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City; Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution; Daum Museum of Contemporary Art in Sedalia, Missouri; Musée des Arts Decoratifs de Montréal; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Kyung-ju, South Korea; and Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.

The good news? He met Fanos, an Eritrean young lady, also Christian, and they married in a Jerusalem church. The leaf spring is a type of non-torsional flat spring. Trucks and other large vehicles often have leaf spring suspensions that transfer the load evenly across the chassis.

The artist creates aggregates of language as well as categories and styles of art making. The text is the most stimulating example of this combination – Zaman has formed his own written language, a combination of his native Bengali, Arabic, and English. Graffiti meets fine art and Eastern alphabets meets Western alphabets. Each separate element merges to create stunning layered depths.

Beginning in 2009, Currier has collaborated with Boston Valley Terra Cotta to create unique ceramic tiles for interior walls. Her first commission, La Stanza di Linea, is a 14 x 40-foot wall in the Choral Room in the Miller Performing Arts Center at Alfred University. Incorporating three different tiles to create the pattern, the tiles were mounted to the wall utilizing Boston Valley’s unique clip system. Next, BKSK, the architectural firm that designed 688 Broadway, a 14-unit luxury apartment building in New York City’s NOHO neighborhood, chose one of Currier’s Boston Valley Terra Cotta tiles for installation in the entryway.

Buffalo is what it is because leaders, in recognizing the lack of parks to serve a burgeoning population, brought in the best thinkers on urban parks, and backed their visionary plan that applied then-best thinking citywide.

Each of the 10 loops around Ceres took one and a half days, and Dawn successfully performed all of its planned observations. Every time Dawn flew northward over the sunlit hemisphere, the spacecraft used its cameras and other sensors to collect new data. During some orbits, as it flew southward over the hemisphere opposite the Sun, it turned to point its main antenna at faraway Earth and then radioed its findings to NASA's Deep Space Network. On other orbits, Dawn patiently continued looking down at Ceres. Of course, with the ground there hidden in the deep black of night on a moonless world, there was nothing to see, but by not turning, the spacecraft could conserve precious hydrazine for later in the mission. (Dawn used this strategy in most of the other phases at Ceres as well, starting with the third mapping orbit of the prime mission in 2015.) We will discuss more about hydrazine below.

Some night workers around the world keep a radio or even a TV going. The drawback with that in Russell’s adopted country is the hourly news bulletin. Why chance being told about the latest politician or cop or rabbi being indicted for rape or embezzlement? He’ll read about that in Haaretz online when he gets home, and about trouble on the West Bank, or if you will Judea and Samaria, or in and around Gaza, or up on the Lebanese border or the Golan Heights and Syria. The usual everlasting low-intensity conflict with the Arabs and the Iranians plays out just seconds or minutes away by jet.
