The arcade may be a bit small with not many setups, but there’s still plenty to do if it’s busy and you have to wait. Classic SNES systems are set up in the front waiting area, along with pinball machines, board games, and Rubik’s cubes. There are several screens set up so onlookers can watch what their friends are seeing in virtual reality.

Zaman’s practice stems from a desire to bring different, and at times socially opposing, cultures together to highlight the beauty in each, and to call to attention a need for understanding. Oddly enough this is communicated via language that isn’t understandable, but that exact illegibility is what helps create a universal experience. Unable to read the text, the viewer is left to contemplate the intent of the artist and to glean meaning by focusing on the layers, both in the form of monochromatic and colorful applications of paint. There is room for both intellectual reads and more instinctive responses.

Beginning in 2009, Currier has collaborated with Boston Valley Terra Cotta to create unique ceramic tiles for interior walls. Her first commission, La Stanza di Linea, is a 14 x 40-foot wall in the Choral Room in the Miller Performing Arts Center at Alfred University. Incorporating three different tiles to create the pattern, the tiles were mounted to the wall utilizing Boston Valley’s unique clip system. Next, BKSK, the architectural firm that designed 688 Broadway, a 14-unit luxury apartment building in New York City’s NOHO neighborhood, chose one of Currier’s Boston Valley Terra Cotta tiles for installation in the entryway.

A separate report released last summer – ironically, on the 40th birthday of the convention center – showed that the shortcomings of our convention facilities are primarily responsible for holding back Buffalo as a destination.

The pulse jets used on the V1 or “buzz bombs” were valved pulse jets. They had reed type valves behind the intake to prevent exhaust flow out the intake. The problem with that is the heat and mechanical stress on those valves makes them very short lived. One of the problems with the V1 was reliability. Many of them never made it anywhere near their intended target. Of course they weren’t very accurate either. So, the intended target was basically anywhere in England they mind happen to land. The Pulse jet on this go kart appears to be valveless pulse jet. From the appearance, I would say it’s the Lockwood-Hiller design. Anyway, being a valveless pulse jet both openings function as both intake and exhaust therefore the engine must be bent into a ‘U’ shape to develop forward thrust.
